  • Notes 
    • Arrived in U.S. on May 4, 1906 at age 19 aboard the ship Barbarossa, said he was traveling to see his brother Michele who lived at 289-291 Mott Street in New York. Evidently he ended up in Portland, Oregon where his brother Giacomo lived and he worked in logging camps. Returned to Sannicandro in 1908 and married 3 months later in November of 1908. 9 months later his wife died.

      He returned to the U.S, 4 months later arriving on February 10, 1910 saying he had been to the U.S. before in 1906-1907 in Portland, Oregon. He was 22 and stated he was going to see his brother Giacomo who lived in Portland, Oregon and also paid for his ticket. He again worked in logging camps. He settled in Portland, Oregon and worked for Southern Pacific Railroad at the Brooklyn Yard. In 1921 he went into the produce business. He moved to San Jose, California and worked in the produce business for 10 years and then he got sick and didn't work for 12 years.

      From Birth Record - Born May 17, 1887 at 10:__ am and presented to city officials for registration May 19 at 6:__ pm. Family was living at 20 Via ____ in Sannicandro. Father Gaetano was 40 (should have been listed as 43 or 44) and worked as a peasant farmworker and lived in Sannicandro. Mother was Maria Vittoria. Witnesses to the birth registration were Rafaele Chimienti and _________Novielli.

      Side Note on Birth Record - On November 5, 1908, Domenico married Anna Priore.
