    • At age 25, on April 13, 1910, Giuseppe arrived in Ellis Island aboard the ship Berlin. He stated he had been here before between 1906 and 1908 in Connelsville, Pennsylvania. He stated he was on his way to see his cousin Batista Stangarone who lived at Box 629, Connelsville, PA and that he left behind his wife Teresa Magistrale.
    • Translation of death record extract:

      On October 16,1917, at 5 p. m. in the town hall of Sannicandro di Bari. I Cherubino Bolognese, secretary delegated by the Mayor on May 5, 1904, appointed officer for the Vital Records of the Town of Sannicandro di Bari, having received by the War Ministry a copy of the death record of the soldier Giuseppe Ruscigno I copy this record fully and exactly and I insert it with my visa in the volume of the attachments.
      “Abstract of the death record of the soldier Giuseppe Ruscingno recorded in the Register of the H. Q. of the 31st Medical Division at page 25, # 335 (vol. 7) I undersigned Lt. of Service Corps Celestino Baglini, in charge for the vital records of the above said H. Q. certify that in the book of the death records at page 25, # 335 is written what follows:
      On May 25, 1917 in the place “Dolina Innominata”
      (doline without name) at 7 p. m. passed away, 33 y. o., the soldier Giuseppe Ruscigno of the 17th Infantry [Rgt.] 7th Company # 19939 (3), born in Sannicandro, province of Bari, son of Gaetano and of Vittoria Maria, married with Teresa Magistrale, died for a splinter of bursting shell in his head and this was stated as a “Fatto di Guerra” (war event), buried at “Dolina Innominata” as the people below signing declares …”.
